PhotoRx Media exists as an outlet for my creativity. I launched PhotoRx Media initially because my wife joked that I need some sort of income source to replace the money I spend on tech gadgets and photography gear. It grew from there.
I did not go to a fancy school for graphic artists or photographers or filmmakers. It wasn’t until I was established in my career as a pharmacist that I realized I loved to re-imagine the world through the viewfinder on a camera. This interest turned into a hobby then an obsession until soon it was practically my identity.
For 10 years, I fed myself a steady diet of online courses (Thank you Lynda.com! Oh, and you too YouTube.) to learn about the fascinating world of media production. I shot hundreds of thousands of photos and wore out multiple cameras in the process of learning the art and science of photography. As you might have guessed by now, my primary focus is photography, but I also do work in videography, graphic art and web design.
I honed my skills through my contract work as director of events & marketing at Coteau des Prairies Lodge. My ongoing responsibilities there include all content creation for web and print. This has included photography, videography, graphic design, written content, web design, blogging, social media management and even special event planning. Coteau des Prairies Lodge was also the launch pad for my popular photography workshops. I have had the privilege to provide education and inspiration to hundreds of photographers there at PhotoRx Getaway.
So, here we are. My company, PhotoRx Media offers great, original media products as well as fun training workshops featured at premiere scenic and inspirational destinations. I will continue on in my role as a full-time pharmacist, as well as being a husband and a father of nine beautiful children. Just, sometimes I wish there were more hours in the day. Particularly between 10pm and 2am. That would be so awesome.
